I hope we're supposed to comment here! I'm excited to learn all these standards in the upcoming year. No mention of infinite improbability drives, I noticed. Guess Earthly understanding of statistics just isn't there yet. --Renee Pelletier
ReplyDeleteI hope we are supposed to comment here! I am excited to take AP Stats this year. Subjects like surveys and estimation interest me because I have never learned about them in my previous mathematics courses.

I'm looking forward to AP Stats! From what I can tell the curriculum explores a variety of practical statistic uses. Interpreting data through visuals such as graphs and making predictions for future outcomes is something that I wish to learn more about. -Sydney Rutledge
ReplyDeleteAs I first read through these standards, it strikes me how much real world application this course will have. As opposed to some other math classes, where we really have to dig deep and master the material before we can tie it to real life, this course seems to have very practical uses from day one when we deal with graphs of real data and I am looking forward to learning the material outlined.

I'm looking forward to AP Stats this year! The standards in this course are not only interesting but also have practical uses and/or can be applied to any career. -Anna Derrane
ReplyDeleteThese standards set up a good curriculum to help us understand how data is taken in the real world and will make it easier to see how numbers and graphs translate to something meaningful.
ReplyDelete-Sarah Van Ness
I found it truly extraordinary how the actions made by people in every day life can be turned turned into graphic representations to predict the probability of something occurring again. It will be interesting to learn more about the general population through the interpretations of graphical data!

I'm really excited to learn math that will actually be useful to me in life. I fail to see how the quadratic formula is something I will ever practically use in real life, however collecting and reading data, and planning and conducting surveys are actual skills that I will most likely need in life. I can't wait to get started!

Having to learn a way to realistically apply the math we learned to everyday life would make the class more interesting and worth learning. Also, I would think the class to be fun since the math is not solely based on equations like previous math classes but rather interpretations of graphs and data. I'm looking forward to the different style of math class I am about to take.
ReplyDeleteThese standards will help us to take real life statistics and condense the information so that everyone can read and understand our findings. We will be able to compare data and do research about many different real life scenarios.

Yup these are definitely standards. Statistics are a great way to prove your friends and family they're wrong and you're right, by predicting future outcomes. I can't wait to dive in and start learning all of them! Tally-ho my AP Stats friends! Let this be a year of creative expression through statistical means!

I am really looking forward to taking this AP Statistics course! After looking through the standards, I have realized all the real life applications I will be able to use the math we learn in. It will be much more interesting to learn about and understand these standards compared to other math classes I have taken because they will actually be useful to a career of my interest later on in life.

After reading the standards I feel like I have a much better understanding of what this class will be about. Some of the things I'm exited to see on the standards are bivariate data and combining independent random variables. It seems like the things we will learn this year apply really well in real life situations, which always makes math more learn-able (at least for me it does).

ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to AP Stats this year! Conducting a variety of experiments and surveys has always interested me, along with exploring data and using it in real world situations. The standards for stats already seem much more appealing than those of any other math class I have taken.

During the meeting in June, we were told that Statistics is one of the best minors to have in college regardless of your major. After reading through the standards, I can definitely stand behind that claim based on both the number and variety of real life applications. From what I can tell, the standards will provide us with powerful mathematical tools for analyzing and collecting data, as well as predicting future events, and personally, I can’t wait to start building this tool set. -Drew Powers

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to AP Statistics this year. The standards shown give a great overview on how to use Statistics in every day life. Although I do not plan to study Statistics in college, I feel like this class can give me more insight on how to use math outside the classroom. Almost every math I've taken has been calculus based and I feel like taking AP Statistics can give me more exposure to what I'm not entirely used to.

I'm excited to take AP Stats this year. After reading the standards, I'm eager to take a class that uses data to apply math in a real world way. The unit centered around sampling and experimentation interests me because I think that conducting surveys and censuses as well as experiments are a great way to learn about a topic.

I am excited to be taking Ap Statistics this year. After reading through the standards for the course I am most eager for the unit on Anticipating Patterns. Knowing how to use the skills that we will learn in this class in every-day life makes it very exciting. The standards showed me that we will learn many things throughout the year and recognize them in real life situations. I believe that will help in the process of learning this topic.

AP Stats has always been a class I have wanted to take. Probability was never my favorite thing to learn about because it was too easy to be interesting. After reading the AP Statistics Standards I am looking forward to starting this school year with the hopes of changing my previous opinion on probability. I am thrilled to be challenged by this course.

I am happy to say how excited I am this year to be taking my first advanced placement class in highschool! I am also glad that it is a math oriented class, as math is not only my favorite subject in school but one of my favorite hobbies! I am ready for the challenge that an advanced placement class will present me. -Jeremy W. Barr
ReplyDeleteI am excited to take this AP class because statistics are interesting to me. After reading the standards, I am eager to learn more! I already knew that statistics were an important part of everyday life, but now I am even more curious about the possibilities.

ReplyDeleteAfter looking through the college board standards for this course, my excitement for it has grown. With many new things to learn, all of the standards seem interesting and exciting. This course seems like a different kind of math than courses which I have previously taken in high school. This type of math seems more life applicable and meaningful.

I am very excited to take AP Statistics this year! I am looking forward to taking a mathematics course that is applicable in my everyday life. So much of the world today revolves around statistics, and I hope that by taking this class I will learn about real-world scenarios. By looking through the course standards, I can already tell that this will be a very practical class. Statistics will be useful in just about any college major that I choose, so I hope that this helps to prepare me for college classes. I can't wait to take a math class that I will actually enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to take AP stats this year. I enjoy math classes so I know I will enjoy stats. Looking at the standards is helpful because it breaks down what we will be learning throughout the year and makes me more excited. I know that statistics is important and used everyday without even noticing. I know this class will help in college and in the future. I look forward to taking this class this year!

After reading the standards and How To Lie With Statistics, I have a much greater appreciation for the importance of statistics in everyday life, and I am very excited to learn more. I am particularly interested in statistical inference because it has become a very important field for advertising firms who collect website data from users and then try to predict which products those users would be interested in.
ReplyDelete-Jason King
There are many standards for this course and lots to learn so it will be a fun challenge. I am excited to make surveys for this class.
ReplyDelete-Laura Pierce
I have learned some of the standards in math class and look forward to advancing my knowledge.
